It's baby time! A mother's birth story of baby Miller's arrival and her appreciation for doula care

Thank you to first time mom Sloan for sharing her birth story with us! Join us and and Mindful Birth Doula Tara in our congratulations to Sloan and Derek, and a joyous welcome to baby Miller.

"My birth experience was nothing short of extraordinary, and I owe a great deal of that to the incredible support of my husband Derek and doula Tara. From the moment I found out I was pregnant, I knew I wanted to do everything possible to prepare for labor and delivery. My doula, Tara, was an invaluable resource throughout my pregnancy. She provided us with great information, helped us create a birth plan, and taught me comfort measures and breathing techniques to use during labor. She was also an amazing emotional support, always there to listen and answer my questions.

As my due date approached, I felt more and more prepared, but also a bit anxious. My due date arrived and no signs of labor yet. Tara was so supportive during this time, reassuring me that everything was okay and helping me to stay patient.  My doctors agreed to let me go to 41 weeks but wanted to schedule an induction if my baby did not arrive before 41 weeks. We had an induction scheduled at my 41-week date but both myself and my husband felt very uneasy about it, since I was not high hisk or showing any signs of health issues, I knew I could go longer with the support of my husband and Tara.

Once I decided it was time to go to the hospital, my labor progressed smoothly and quickly. I felt calm and in control, thanks to the techniques I had learned from Tara. She continued to be an amazing support at the hospital, advocating for my birth plan and helping me to stay focused. Tara was by my side the entire time, providing counter pressure during contractions, reminding me to breathe, and offering words of encouragement.

Finally, after 8- 9 hour labor, our baby girl, Miller was born. The moment my daughter was placed on my chest, I was overwhelmed with joy and gratitude.  It was an incredible moment, and I felt so empowered by the experience. I know that my birth experience would not have been as positive without the support of Derek and Tara. Tara helped me to feel prepared, confident, and supported throughout my entire journey."
